Rather
than buying and storing plastic bottles,
it is more economical to use "preforms"
which are much smaller compact plastic
forms that are expanded into finished
bottles by the blow molder. Watch the
blow molding machines video to see how
it operates. Make your own bottles when
you need them to reduce inventory storage
and vendor delivery problems.
“Preforms”
Norland blow molders allow
you to take advantage of increased demand
for plastic bottles and other plastic
packages. The Norland system uses "preforms"
to simplify the production process.
The preforms look like test tubes used
in laboratories, except they are threaded
on the top for a screw finish cap to
be applied.
Models
The freedom series of PET
blow molders is available in three capacity
sizes of 1500, 3000 and 4500 bottles
an hour. The units can handle bottles
up to 50 oz (1.5 L). The BM600 series
can produce 600 bottles s an hour. The
freedom 100 series is for large bottles,
producing 100 bottles per hour.
Oxo-Bio Preforms
Norland International has
partnered with Planet Green Bottle Corporation
to introduce oxo-biodegradable (oxo-bio)
PET preforms and plastic bottles to
the bottled water industry. The oxo-biodegradable
additive to PET resin considerably speeds
up bottle decomposition. PET bottles
containing no oxo-bio additives take
an estimated 1,000 years or more to
decompose. PET bottles containing the
oxo-bio additive naturally decompose
within four to ten years in standard
landfills, significantly lessening environmental
impact of discarded bottles.
All Norland blow molding machines process
the new oxo-biodegradable PET performs.
