The Niagara+ Sediment Filter is designed for the removal of turbidity in the water caused by sand, silt, ferric iron and oxidized manganese or sulfur. It is used in applications such as general turbidity removal and as pre-filtration for ultraviolet sterilizers or water softeners.
Superior Quality Filter-Ag Sediment Filtration Media
Filter Ag is a very efficient filter medium for the removal of suspended material and turbidity. Less pressure loss and finer filtration is possible because of its light weight and irregular surface characteristics.
Filter Ag granules have irregular surface characteristics affording maximum removal of suspended matter throughout the filter bed. Filter-Ag can be applied to systems designed for either pressure or gravity flow.
Filter-Ag has many outstanding advantages over the more common granular filter media used for suspended solids removal. A substantial savings can be realized with Filter Ag because equipment can be smaller, requiring less square footage. Filter-Ag is a lightweight substance which means additional savings in backwash rates. Filter-Ag typically removes the normal suspended solids, down to 20-40 micron range.
Micro-Z Zeolite Filtration Media
Micro-Z is a high performance zeolite filter media used in lieu of Filter-Ag, sand/anthracite, pecan shells or other, coarse filtration material to efficiently remove suspended solids and fine turbidity particles. Micro-Z's microscopic mineral projections allow particulate matter to penetrate deeply into the bed. In addition, the granules remove a wide range of colloidal and soluble, inorganic metallic, contaminants by surface sorption, chemical binding, charge-neutralization, coagulation, reactions and/or ionic, ion-exchange phenomena. One of the advantages of Micro-Z is its superior filtration rating (5 micron nominal) which translates to enhanced water quality.
Our automatic backwash systems are equipped with the FleckŪ 5600 water conditioning control valve.
The Fleck valve is designed to backwash and rinse the media at a set time automatically. This normally occurs every 3-4 days. While in the backwashing and rinsing cycle, the media is reclassified to keep it from packing down inside the tank. Also during the backwash and rinse cycle, the valve automatically rinses the media clean, sending unwanted, trapped sediment particles down the drain preparing the unit for continued sediment removal.
