Nitrate Filters
Whole House Filter

The Niagara+™ Nitrate Filter effectively removes nitrates which may have entered your well water. Nitrates are typically found in fertilizer, animal waste, septic tanks, sewers, and in natural deposits. Nitrates can be especially toxic to infants, pregnant women, and pregnant livestock.

All Nitrate systems include the following: (unless otherwise stated)

- Specified resin tank size with 1" riser tube and top distributor basket
- Specified amount of Nitrate resin
- Fleck 5600 3/4" Timer Control Backwash valve
- Your choice of one of the following four connections: 3/4" or 1" Noryl Yoke, 3/4" or 1" Stainless Steel Bypass Valve.
- 14x14x36 Square Brine Tank with tank to valve tubing

Fleck 5600 Nitrate Filters

Nitrate Filter

These systems use a type of filtering resin called anion exchange resin. Anions (in this case nitrate and sulfate) are selectively removed in the filtering process. As the nitrate is removed, nontoxic chloride ions are substituted in a process known as ion-exchange.

After the filtering resin removes a given amount of nitrate, the resin becomes "exhausted" and cannot remove any more nitrate or sulfates. At this point the media must be cleaned in a process known as regeneration. Salt is used as the regenerant which restores the resin and allows it to remove nitrate again.

Our automatic backwash systems are equipped with the FleckŪ 5600 water conditioning control valve.
