Two Basic Types of Whole House Filtration Systems:
Automatic Backwash Filter Systems
Whether for use on private well water or municipal supply, these various filter systems differ only in the type and quantity of filtration media, or resin, which they contain. Different media is available to treat different contaminants, and the automatic control valve virtually eliminates any frequent maintenance.
Cartridge Filter Systems
Whole house cartridge filters are used primarily in residential applications for the removal of sediment as well as chlorine, chemicals, tastes and odors. Iron filter cartridges are also available. These systems require regular maintenance consisting of replacing the filter cartridges.

Niagara+ Family of Automatic Whole House Water Filters
 This is a self-backwashing system
that automatically removes the trapped contaminants within the
filter bed and washes them down the drain. This is accomplished
with the electronic control valve that is mounted on top of the
system. This valve is controlled by a timer, that on a regular
interval, initiates the backwash cycle that cleans the bed of
filtration media and resets it for the next period of filtration.
 The system connects to the main
line of your home and filters all the incoming water to it. It
requires a nearby power outlet and drain source (usually the
washing machine drain). A standard residential system is 56"
high by 10" in diameter. It contains up to 1.5 cubic ft. of media.
Our automatic backwash systems are equipped with the FleckŪ
5600 water conditioning control valve.

Cartridge Filter Systems
Cartridge style whole house filters are a good choice for homes with sediment in the water supply. As well as providing clean drinking water, these sytems help prevent contaminants from causing damage to water heaters and other appliances. Models available with 1, 2 or 3 cartridges for extra sediment and chlorine removal as well as treatment of bad taste and odor. Models also available with ultraviolet disinfection. Specialty cartridges for the removal of iron and other contaminants are also offered.
